Yak Skull

Yak Skull

We crossed the Tanggula Pass, with 5231 mtr one of the worlds highest motorable passes. I walked down to a house with a little shop. At the back of the house this yak skull was lying on the dirt.

Yaks are very important for the Tibetans as they can withstand the harsh conditions of the Tibetan plateau. They serve as source for food, milk, butter. Their hide is used for clothing and shoes. Yak dunk finds its way as fuel, construction material or even medicine or toys for children
